Get ZoneAlarm, and set it to disallow all ads that don't load in 1 second and all popup/popunder ads; and use something other than Infernal Exploder. I just went to Drudge with my Netscape 7.3, and not one popup.

Avant Browser here. Most excellent pop-up blocker; it even keeps a tally for you of all the ads it has blocked in a session. It gives me a strong sense of control and happiness to see that number. ( ;
