I think they misnamed the movie. I'd name it, oh, I don't know, maybe 3.5 at best. . .

Oh man, I hurt from laughing!
I was half expecting a large boulder to roll down a ramp and chase the bike guy at the begining, and like a true idiot, he tries to bike the entire length of the Space Needle to avoid having it fall on him instead of just TURNING TO THE SIDE SO IT MISSES HIM.
That train was the best of the worst. Somehow the crack in the earth manages to run right down the middle of the railway tracks, even when it goes around a curve! And once it swallows up the train, it stops! I guess quakes like trains kinds like tornadoes like trailer parks. :)
Somebody shoot the cameramen! This constant handheld jerkiness and zoomin in and out is nuts. When you add the split screenes it looks like some rejected director of rap music videos was behind it all.
Plot holes are too many to count, steriotypes abound, campy dialogue galore, and the news reporter watching the GG Bridge come apart sounded like he was doing a movie review. Using nukes to 'fuse' a fault shut is insane, I guess they think that doing the same thing as in Superman but having it have the opposite effect is 'original'.

How does NBC get away with showing a made for tv movie produced in 2004, which is filled with special effects, and not have the courtesy of showing it in a hi-def format?

To: Rose in RoseBear
I'm not sure I was watching the same show as the others. I thought it was actually not bad at all, in fact, quite enjoyable.
It had pretty good special effects for a TV show, it has no politics involved so far (by politics, no party denominations of any kind), and the dialogue is not bad. Plus, Kim Delaney, vavavoom.

And in the end, the left coast breaks off to form an island.
And the new island looks like Cuba!

10.5 is truly awful. It makes most entries in the TV movie-of-the-week genre look like high quality cinema. The science is, well, missing. The acting is worse. The background music is hilarious in that its obviously trying to create some sort of emotion about the "story".
It all comes down to the last 10 minutes:
"We are not masters of this planet."
Yup, that's right. It was a poster for tree huggers!
