I don't think it was that gruesome. No obvious blood or body parts strewn around.

Just because there isn't much blood doesn't mean the body wasn't smashed. It just means the heart wasn't pumping anymore or the body wasn't positioned in a way where it could flow out (like if the aorta were torn).
