The FreeRepublic Saddle Club thread

Posted on 04/26/2004 12:06:41 PM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Free Republic has a lot of horse people that have found each other on other threads…. And since we all like to talk horses, how about a thread where it is not off-topic, but is THE topic?

A few of us thought it would be interesting and informative to have a chat thread where we can share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. We may not ~always~ have a lot of activity, but when we do, it will be fun. I will put a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I will also develop a ping list for horse threads that are of interest. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

I am hoping this thread will be a fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

Hmmm.. I have no idea how long it would take to decorate a room. What kind of decorating are we talking about? Wedding decorations? Set up for that can take a long time. Couple of hours with table set up, and balloons and all that happy jazz. Good luck.

Yeah 2 hours max. I can't sit around in a hotel room til then. Had to find me something to do. I wanted to go for a "sunset" ride Friday night but there is some kind of grooms dinner happening.

I had this horse at my vet a few months ago for a coggins. He looked him over then and said he was a good horse.

I don't plan on telling anyone else about this idiots opinion, because that is all it was was opinion. He didn't take an exray, just his opinion. There is nothing wrong with the horse, my vet said he was fine, my farrier says he has great feet. I don't know what the joker was looking at. Anyone else wants the horse vetted, they're going to my vet or not at all. If that stops a sell I don't care.

Oh, Ok.

Packing. I like a western look so I usually buy my dress clothes at boot barn. I went over there today and they had a big sale. I got some shirts for 5 dollars and a couple of skirts. I then blew my savings on a new pair of boots. Remember the nice black pair I had? Well they look like @#$% kicker boots now. These lace. I have always hated regular boots. I feel like I'm stuck in them and want to take a knife and rip them off. Claustrophobic feet:')

"Speaking of the time difference, have you heard if they are going to do anything about the media reporting on the election on the east coast before the polls close on the west?

I know that was a problem last time, and then they talked about trying to do something, but haven't heard anything since. "

They are not going to do anything. They are going to count on people forgetting that it was the medias fault and they will go on calling at the states for Kerry as soon as possible.

Bareback riding is alright but if you carry anything with you or are doing work with the horse, the stirrups are a plus.

Don't have to plant it but usually get to cut it three times each summer. This summer was so damp it was only cut and baled twice. : (

Not expecting as much rain and wind now. Not good for GA though unless they need the rain.

The tropics sure are busy. We have dodged so far but I still need to find a place I could stable my two horses at if evacuation necessary. I'm not speaking of horses now but more people would probably leave for shelters. if they could take their pets with them. Seems every year elderly are asked somewhere to leave (often a mobile) and they refuse because of the animals.

Me, I wouldn't leave until I had too because I couldn't get back in and looters. Our LE can't even respond timely on good weather days:'(

I agree, those storms need to make a few passes over the Sahara desert for a couple of years, give us a break. : )

On to work here too and not online there, talk to you later.
