As long as the roof is not too low on that side, you could either attach an awning or sister short extensions on the existing rafters to give Bay a little porch. It's worth a good look, anyhow. Think of sleeping in in the morning! :-)

Oh I do! And I imagine if he keeps having to hold it like this, one day he's just gonna blow. I don't think it is good for him!

Well, I'm going to nap for about an hour and then go to the stables. I've got a sore throat and achy:'(

Do yall ever procrastinate about riding? I find myself making excuses to go ride. too tired, not feeling good, busy etc but once I'm there I am so glad I pushed myself. I really enjoy myself. It's just the getting there after work. I may give early mornings another try. It's just so hard for me to get up that early though

I tried split shift but forget about it. I was working til 10a and then going riding. Worked out well except I had all kinds of reasons not to go back to work:')

LOL....every single time I ride. And I have heard everyone that I know say this. I don't know why that is other then humans are basically lazy. Even about the things we LIKE to do.

I finally learned to always think about the fun I will have once I have started. As soon as I get up and start the dreading about going to catch and saddle a horse, I make myself think of the fun.

I'm having that trouble with practicing the barrels. I'll trail ride all day, but I'll put off practicing the barrels. I don't know why, I really enjoy doing it while I am doing it. But I can also find an excuse not to go into the arena and do it. I've tried before and after trail riding. It's just a human quirk I guess:)

I procrastinate all the time... Every time I ride I say, 'we should do this every day' and then I never do.

Lazy!

And today, boy is it windy out. Horses get fruity when it's windy.

Yeah. My instructor doesn't like me riding when it's windy which would be never. I do it anyway. Okie just has to deal with it. He gets a little ansy but not bad though. Wind and birds just have to be put up with around here.

I like that you are an adventurer! It'll keep you young! Going into city of Tacoma to meet with the pastor was enough of an adventure for me today!

I am just a fair weather rider - and the horse is getting his workout without me, runnin' up and down the pasture! He's afraid of the trees movin' at the moment... and some kind of fast-food bag that blew through... ;~D

I'm like Cindy here. If I didn't ride in the wind I wouldn't ride.

The first time I climb on Okie here, was one of our most windy days. I remember standing there thinking is the a smart idea. It didn't seem to faze him tho. I never really noticed a differnce. But wind does make them more goofy.

I have always thought my Arabs were worse about that sort of thing then the QH? What you think. I may be a bit prejudiced tho, because the Arabs were the first horses I had when I was such a bad rider, and I got hurt off them a few times. That could be coloring my feelings about them, Because I've had QH jump around in the wind.

So did you get to ride yesterday, or did you talk yourself out of it:) I got Rusty rode in the morning, but by the time I got back from my bible study, I just couldn't get myself out there to ride Harley.

Heather is coming today and I will ride Rusty. She rides Rocky and he is so slow on the trail (Never know he is an excellent barrel runner:) that if I take Harley, who walks 4 miles an hour easy, I'd, leave Heather so far behind I'd loose her. I hate slowing him down, I've always wanted one that walks that fast. Rusty is somewhere in the middle of Rocky and Harley.

Tomorrow morning Celia is coming, her horses walk faster so Harley will get a good ride then.

See we all have the procrastination problem. I need to be riding both each day. And I'm not doing it as often as I should:(

Morning. Remember I said I had a sore throat? I went out there though caz I thought I might just be making excuses but I got to feeling really bad and came home. I started to push myself but I've already learned the hard way to stay off him when I'm not up tp to it:')(my saddle slipped and I fell and hurt myself but got back on. After I was thru I couldn't get my right leg up and leaned too for over to get it and fell off again)

I'm starting Antibiotics today. I'll see how I feel later.I'm off today so there is plenty of time. If nothing else I'm just going to walk him on the road again until he settles down leaving the ranch.

Eddie (my husband) talked about riding with me this weekend but he's just having a hard time getting past riding a horse called "buttercup" (school horse at the stables my instructor offered to loan him). Anyway one of the boarders and his wife taking me (and Eddie) trail riding this weekend. Looking forward to it.

They probably were worse! - There are things that will spook any horse, but Arabs I think are the tinfoilhatters of the horse world. They like to blow and snort at everything.

LOL:)

Rusty is an unpapered horse who supposedly came from QH stock, but he's got some throughbred comfirmation points, not alot, but his ears are definitly thorughbredy shaped. Anyway, I've started riding him with a crop. When I first got him he didn't shy at anything, the past year tho, after miles on the these same trails, he is shying at everything. I think he's just figured out that when something caused him to shy, for awhile I let him stop and get a good look at it. Well now it's just a way to stop:) Their so smart. I found a top on the butt will keep him moving now. I think I babyed the behavior too long. But I always try to give the horse the benefit of the doubt. Because of his being anadrotic, I have always offered to let him stop and drink at all water spots, now he'll act like he needs to stop at a hoof print full of water:) Becky

Been there done that:). Yesterday as a matter of fact. I should have rode Harley, but I wanted to mow. My pasture was getting pretty bad. But it could have waited another day or so:)

Back when my friend owned Bay he snorted at everything (snorted and always jumped two feet to the side). I would laugh at Bay and pop him for silly things but that behavior drove Bob nuts (Mr. loose-rein that I posted a pic of yesterday). Bay was 10 years old then but really green.

When Bob sold him to the endurance racer, she put lots of miles on him and really got him over all those quirks. That is what he needed. Now, he'll still blow and snort for the sport of it in the pasture, but he's great and steady when he's bridled. ~most~ of the time that is ;~D

What a great idea! Please add me to the list. I don't have a horse right now, (no money, no time) but, I just love them. I always have. I used to work with race horses. There isn't a day that goes by where I don't wish I could work with them again, or have a horse of my own.

I think I will have to leave this state (California) in order to have a horse again. They are closing the stables and the trails. The stupid liberals complain about horses on the hiking trails. They try to claim horses "harm the environment". Guess they've never heard of the benefits of fertilizer.

What great pictures of you and your "family". Congradulations on your upcoming wedding too.
