Do men doth die for loving need
and rally forth on sainted ground
or simply call to friends of love
of brothers sought, and brothers found
we take up arms in justice cause
and seek the battled moment rent
but pay in blood for simply he
whose loss would fail
our company.
One does not ask of what one needs,
one does not howl indignity
one merely does what one must do
to mend the salve of casualty
I have not lived the life you've lived,
nor seen the things that you did see
so how can I relate to you, except through what it means to me
and so, though you may disagree,
and yet decide of folly me
within which bunker huddled close
did you not find the one of me
