I personally think that "Mandy" by Barry Marshmallow is the worst of all time (although several of his other hits are right up there).
I'll also have to give a close second to Joan Baez' "The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down." That one just makes me cringe, especially when she sings about "a couple of light-years ago".

You're mixing "Dixie" up with "Diamonds and Rust," her song about Dylan.

I take it you haven't heard her screech You've Lost That Loving Feeling on Phil Spector's TV spectacular from 1965 titled "T.A.M.I. Show", which must have been filmed right after he sold the Righteous Brothers to MGM Records for a cool million. What's the secret of this chick? Was she such a hot babe in those days?

Uh.. the words "a couple of light-years ago" is from "Diamonds and Rust", not "The Night they Drove Old Dixie Down". It is lame, though.

But Robbie Robertson singing "The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down" is one of the high points of the 20th century, maybe even the entire second millinium.
