With no rap or hip hop trash on the list - I think it's entirely bogus!!! Of course any song on the list had to be a hit. Allrap & hip hop trash should be on the top of the list - repetitive beat and lyrics to offend everyone. Rap/hip hop has also encouraged misguided youth into putting big bass speakers in their cars, cranking it up so you can hear - Whumpa whumpa whumpa - for miles. That is an outrage of historic proportion.

Good points.

Take a computer-generated break beat, crank it up to ear-splitting (and ground-rumbling bass) levels, yell 'm****rf****r' over it every other word, and you've got a hit with today's kids. Ugh!

Well, Rick Dees and his Cast of Idiots. Wouldn't want to slight his band.

Then there's this one

Hey y'all prepare yourself for the rubberband man
You've never heard a sound
Like the rubberband man
You're bound to lose control
When the rubberband man starts to jam

Or how about "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald"?

Ah yes...the classics lyrics...

And a wave hit the boat, and they all drowned like rats
As they lay there, their lungs filled with water.
And back on the shore, the insurance money ran out
And the kids turned to drugs and prostitution...

One of Richard Jeni's funniest jokes ever!

The chevy van was Sammy somebody...a one hitter.

And no "Boogie In Your Butt" by Eddie Murphy?

I can't believe that our music has been so bad. But then comes Randy Newman and Bad Company and Morphine songs and the world is all right again. BTW, live performance is the only artistic reality.

I really enjoyed that 7 minutes of nothing during "Hey Jude" when I was in the 7th grade and slow dancing with the cutest boy in class.

Very difficult to dance to, but I didn't care.

Let's see, NO songs from either 90's teeny-boopers or 90's slap-together bands on the list.

That's strike one and two.

This guy just hates good music, I sight as proof that he labels 'Dust in the Wind' number 6 as the worst ever; any song that has enough emotion in it to make a full grown man start crying should never be considered the worst of anything.

That strike THREE!! HE'S OUT A HERE!!

REOs first two early 70s LPs were not bad.

Golden Country was a minor hit around 1972 or so.....only later did they go all ballady.....to get paid obviously.

"Ebony and Ivory" earned its slot, though.

As bad as that was, the worst duet of all time was that turkey Michael Jackson did with Mick Jagger. Keith Richards should have slugged Mick for that one.

Yes, that is an especially odious dirge, a socialist gazillionaire urging us to give up our posessions, and sniffily positing that us Mere Mortals have no idea how. John was pretty scrappy growing up, it's astonishing he forgot so quickly.

No listing of "Worst Songs" would be complete without SEVERAL tunes from the 1970's, for some reason. Practically anything by Barry Manilow deserves inclusion on general principles, but "I Write The Songs" is especially execreble and should suffice to preclude the dear reader from investigating further. You have been warned.

"Seasons in the Sun"

"The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down"

"Young Girl,Get Out Of My Mind"

"If You're Going To San Fran Cisco"

"Itsy Bitsy Teeny Weeny Yellow Polka Dot Bikini"

Weird Al's version of MacArthur Park (Jurassic Park) is much better than the original.

I will no longer sit (laze) silenty as Eddy Murphy is besmirched - Party All The Time is a great dance classic, and I think those who are vehemently opposed to it are just anti-Ed-ites.

Eddie Murphy is a musical genius!

It's impossible to imagine what compensation Dan Aykroyd demanded to do that shot.

Whatever it was...it was not enough.

I think Chris Rock said something like "anyone can be a hip hop artist, just grab an old rap record and talk over it!"
