HOME DEPOT HELL

This darn place is going to the dogs. As if the aisle-closing business wasn't bad enough, I have now encountered a new annoyance.
The Home Depot has introduced self-check-out stations. Fair enough, and a convenience, if you have just small items & no complications. However, there are now situations -- I just encountered my second -- where Home Depot employees apparently feel that the self-check-out business relieves them of the need to man check-out stations altogether. If for some reason you can't check yourself out, there may be no regular check-out stations manned. (Personned, whatever.)
I gotta stop using this store.

No bail-outs for bad service!
I think twice now about making a longer run to HD or paying more at a closer, customer friendly store.

LMAO.
I'd enjoy the Ward Burton computer checker persona...

The K-Mart's I've driven by around here are practically empty. The cars in the parking lot are the spillover from the Wal-Mart next door.

Agree. I love the fact that here in Oregon you can't pump your own gas.
I like having service people around just about everywhere I go it is the secure feeling that no one is going to mess with us out in the parking lot and usaully the guys pumping gas know KV and the boys/labs are in the van and I can run to the potty while someone is pumping the gas.

In northern NJ, I have an HD 2 miles from me; I drive an extra 8 to go to Lowe's. The help at HD--for the most part--know little and many are nasty. They better get a clue--and fast.
And never buy paint there--it is crap. Although Benjamin Moore costs almost twice as much (indoor flat latex) it's worth it!

Yeah but I know my plumber and his family, same with the rest of the small businesses that help out around the house and strangly enough they are good ole fashion conservatives.
My well and pump guy says he has been eyeing my Bush/Cheney sign for his front lawn. : )

Sure, that´s what everyone wishes to have. Personal contacts and sympathy are favourable for both sides. Here´s to hope that your grocery store will be open for a long time! :)

I use trades people too and are happy to have them. But I can do, and enyoy doing, many of these small things. Sometimes it's hard to find a tradesmann who is willing to take on a small or a time consuming job. In many places, they have more work than they can take.
To: glock rocks; Puddleglum
LOL both of you. How about a default Bugs Bunny voice for the people who jam up the line:
"What a maroon!"
To: Cincinatus' Wife
Lowes is just as bad. Managers are always on vacation when you have a complaint. I filed an online complaint concerning their lack of service and got a call within 3 days.

Local hardware stores are now for the idle rich
BS! My local hardward/tool guy can usually match or come close to matching the big chains line Home Depot, Amazon, etc.

Yeah, the George Bush economy really sucks! :)HA! Cincinatus and I said the same thing Sunday while we were driving through Louden County, VA. The place is exploding with development.

They will listen if you take the time to call. They know for every call, many more are annoyed at the same thing but just walk away instead of complaining.
To: dawn53
They should assign a clerk to watch over the self check outs, IMHO I thought that was standard practice. They always have a clerk to watch the self checkout at Meijers, and it seems to work really well.
To: Cincinatus' Wife
Don't have any Home Depot in this part of the world. Around here, it's either Lowes or Menards, suitable alternatives to HD.
