WHAT IF: kerry picked someone for vice president solely based on popularity, and won in November. THEN, after a decent amount of time had passed, this person, for one reason or another, decided to resign the office (or got 'Fostered' or 'Browned'). WOULD kerry then get to choose his own vice president without any accountability to the general electorate?
The question comes up because we were playing 'remember when' at work today and when I asked someone about Spiro Agnew's problems that led to his resignation and all of a sudden it hit me that the same thing could happen today (remember: that's how Ford 'got his foot in the door').
I tried doing a few searches to see if this had been mentioned before, and nothing came up. I beg your pardon if this has been discussed already.
