Can anyone explain to me Melanie's PAIR of rollerskates? I mean I get the key part, but is she supposed to have two rollerskates? Or is she saying she was open to keys in two places?

He obviously had a car and she didn't. The roller skates made absolutely no sense, which is probably why this guy avoided her like the plague.
