Venture away from the mid-town theater district and spend some time walking and shopping in the local neighborhoods. You will find local pubs and restaurants that serve excellent food and drink for a much more reasonable price than the places that the travel guides write about. If you're staying in the mid town area, then try walking over to First and Second Avenues between 38th and 60th street. The antique district is also a great place to spend the morning. The district stretches a couple blocks along 28th Street heading west from Seventh Ave. towards the Chelsea Pier, which may be worth a visit also. Where is your hotel located?
