Bulieve me, it a futile attempt to thwart the squirrels unless with one of the metal feeders I described. I got mine for about forty dollars.

I had tried everything. The president of the Audubon Society here told me to put cayenne pepper in the birdseed, as it wouldn't hurt the birds, but would make the squirrels very uncomfortable. Many of the products on the market have cayenne as an anti squirrel ingredient. Did it work? NO

Another person told me to use fox urine. He said that squirrels won't go near a fox run. Since foxes follow the same route everyday, he told me to splash some along a path to my feeders and continue to do so. Did it work? NO

I put up those little gyro thingies with corn attached for the squirrels. I bought one of those cute little benches for them to eat on. Did it work? NO

I know you don't want to shoot the little critters, but you might as well buy the metal feeder before you shoot yourself in frustration. LOL

I asked my dad how they kept their squirrels out of the birdfeeders. They have a LOT of birdfeeders and a lot of squirrels and I've never seen the squirrels go after the bird feeders. Dad keeps a big bucket of peanuts in the garage for the squirrels all the time and uses squirrel guards on the feeder access routes. Seems to work. I guess it just depends on the squirrels themselves. I've pretty much always had them, and they've never been more than minimal trouble. I just think these Ozark hillbilly squirrels are a particularly tenacious bunch. LOL!

I probably will break down and buy one or two squirrel proof feeders and try those. I wanted to add a couple more anyway. I will probably go for one of the spring loaded ones like you have and I am finding the ones that roll the little devils off pretty amusing too.
