The city council banned bottle rockets for this year. A bottle rocket started a fire in a fire fighter's home. The silly fool had a recycling mulch bed abutting his garage wall. The rocket hit it and the bed exploded.
So, while they were at it, they also limited sales of all fireworks to seven days before the 4th and use of them only allowed for 48 hours. I guess next year they will ban them completely and hurt business even more.
We do still have a fireworks display over the river from a barge. Several businesses or JayCees usually sponsor it and contribute some money. But, they are more and more reluctant to do so because of the cost of liability insurance.
We went last night and it was pretty. My two year old grandson kept mocking me after I said "oh that one scared me". And my six year old granddaughter finally won my ceramic Republican elephant. I had given her ten patriotic questions to answer and she did.
God bless American and to hell with government.

" God bless American and to hell with government." I'm sure it's already on its way there.
