Yes, we should realize that all retired military who are on the cable news as consultants are not any longer in the loop...and hate it.

Some retired military are not any longer in the loop and some are. I have know senior retired officers who have been in demand even following retirement. That said, who knows about the folks we see on tv. I think some just go on the history of their own war experience.

Take a good look at the salad on the chests of some of the geneals now...they have no Viet Nam experience..they have had some challenges in smaller and difficult operations but this challenge is not like any since the Viet Nam war.

When you think about it, the WW II vets had several vets from WW I and Korean vets had WW II vets and Viet Nam military men had some from WW II and Korea to help with the warfighting skills and plans etc. These folks today don't have a lot of that support around I don't think..Could be wrong but I don't think so...
