Unwanted Free Republic Subscriptions; I cannot turn it off. Help-Vanity
Posted on 04/12/2004 1:24:54 PM PDT by Paul C. Jesup
I click the link in my favorites for the FR Hompage, but it took me to a subscriptions page(which I have never signed up for in the first place).
I clicked the unsubscribe link, the did not want. I went to the subscription page my personal FR Profile and de-clicked all subscriptions (which I never click 'on' in the first place), but it refuses to let me unsubscribe from any of them.
I have done everything in my power to fix this on my own and it does not work. I could use some help.

Let me be the first among many to ask, "Are you logged in?".

Of course, I am logged in, I could not get to my profiles pages if I was not.

Are you at your usuall logging on place IE work instead of home?
To: Rightly Biased
At home, at my password protected computer, with Firewall, Anti-virus and anti-spyware programs.
With IE Internet Zone clicked to high protection, but FR clicked to Trusted Zone.

Then I dunno, I know at work I can't change my settings and make em stick for some reason.
Try adaware and see if you have somekinda spyware.

I check every week on that. It is not that.
What I am saying is that on the 'My Subscriptions' page on the profiles, I uncheck that subscriptions at the bottom (which I never clicked ON in the first place) and when I click Update, all six of the selections refuse to unsubscribe.

Well, you're right Paul, something is NQR. I can't get to the FR homepage, even if I type "www.freerepublic.com". Instead, I'm taken to front page news. Usually I start at the home page and click on latest posts. I'm at work, spousal unit is at home with the same problem, and he keeps posting under my name because he can't figure out how to log me out and him in without the home page. I'll keep looking, maybe there's another thread explaining this.

I am glad it is not just me who has this problem. Perhaps we need to ping the FR Admins.

OK, good idea.

I'm having the same problem...was "subscribed" to something I didn't ask to be subscribed to (News/Activism) and can't unsubscribe...and can't get to the option I do want (Latest Messages). It has been like this all day. It's definitely annoying.

Did you ever get a satisfactory answer to your question? The FR Homepage is supposed to be my homepage, but I'm now landing on the "Front Page News" topic page even though
http://www.freerepublic.com/ is the url. Weird!

I have the same problem at work and at home. When I click on the "unsubscribe" link at the top, it takes me to a "page not found" url.
To: DeepInEnemyTerritory; Rightly Biased
OK, I'm all fixed up now with my homepage set to the new URL. Thanks RB!
To: T Minus Four
your welcome but do we know anything bout the subscriptions?
To: Rightly Biased
