Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Still round the corner we may meet...
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

How do I do that? I hope I don't have to remember how to do DOS commands. . .

Well, it's in DOS right now, but normally it's running on Windows XP.
When I boot up, it gives me the option of either scanning automatically or using a manual program called NAVDX that has a set of commands with it. It looks like NAVDX might be how you get it to scan certain drives, but I'm trying to figure out how to use the commands now. The syntax is NAVDX \ and then the command. However if I tell it to scan the C drive it still only takes a second and it looks like it's only doing the A drive. Do I have to switch over to C somehow, maybe?

Hmm... I'm starting to think maybe we're chasing our tail here a little bit. How about trying an XP system restore? it automatically should have made a recent restore point. Probably yesterday or this morning.
You can find this under programs / accessories / system tools.
It shouldn't affect any files you've worked on.

I like the thunder and lightning, too, as long as it doesn't damage anything! :) Flash floods can be bad, though--hope that passes quick!

Let me go try the XP system restore--will have to reboot to get at it, so it will take about 5 minutes.
Thanks.

I'm safe from any flooding that could occur. And mostly we *think* smart folks will stay out of running water... though it doesn't always work that way.
It's raining quite a bit now. Quieted down some though. Just heavy rain. Is nice! :-)

Heavy rain is nice! I like to pop in a detective or horror movie during that kind of weather--helps the atmosphere :)

I am now logged in from my regular computer again--thanks, Hobbit Hole!!! :) I owe some folks some pints! Owe Ramius a few--that System Restore was what did it! :) Handy thing, that. Man, did that save me from a long night!!! Still wondering what caused that. Anyhow, much thanks!!!
