Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Still round the corner we may meet...
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

I lost five the first week. I expect I'll lose more like a pound a week from now on and that the bigger amount was mainly just water, but that was kinda nice, just the same!
BTW, I did try making custard (sugar free) and it turned out pretty good! I can use milk since, as I've said, I'm not really on a low carb diet, just a no BAD carb diet, and milk sugars aren't labeled a no-no, unless you're chugging it by the gallon. But you could probably use the cream and milk combination in that recipe, I'm betting. If you want it, let me know.

If I could scrounge up the money I would! It's a good thing I have leftovers cause I've got less than you and payday ain't till Monday! This getting paid once a month is for the birds!

Did that for awhile. Now it's every two weeks, but payday is tomorrow and it STILL can't come soon enough.
But my brother gave me five bucks for the last few times he's done laundry at my house, hence I'm pondering what to get for dinner. I have plenty of vegetables...just not much in the way of other stuff.

Well, for emergencies I got my credit card... but I don't use it for normal stuff. At the end of the month though, things sure get tight.
Just got through with a coupla taquitos, salsa and guac. Good food for a woman with no grocery budget! That's something. :-)

Cutlets would work. Could broil 'em."No good broiling 'em! We ain't got no water, and it's a long way to the well and all," said a voice. Bert and William thought it was Tom's. . .
To: Wneighbor
Mmmm...salsa. I need to get some.
Guacamole would be great, too, for that matter...but the avocados I'm seeing in stores right now are pretty sad. I think they're better in a month or two.

To: Overtaxed
I think you're close enough that you should just drive down for the weekend!!! We could eat and watch races!!!

Yeah right. Mapquest makes it 7 hours. I have time to drive down there, turn around, and drive back.
To: Overtaxed
Not if you come for the weekend!

fedora: Laclede county has had the consistently second highest harvest in MO...They must migrate there when they leave my backyard at night--always wondered where they went:) Looks like you've got a tasty meal coming up soon! :)

Drive Saturday, drive Sunday. There goes the weekend!
To: Overtaxed
Excuses, excuses! ;-)
I know someone who drives back here almost every weekend from Manhatten to stay with his family...drives out after work on Friday, leaves Sunday afternoon. Granted, he's insane...but if you did sumpin like that you'd have a full day and most of another at WNs place.
