I think you should emphasize to her that Muslim society is a warrior society and they despise weakness. They see negotiation as weakness. They see toleration as weakness, and acommodation, turning the other cheek, non-combativeness --- all the values which liberals claim as good values --- as expressions of weakness. And weak people are bad people, period.
It's my guess that this is why they don't mind killing children and women. They are weak and expendable.
Explain this to her in terms of culture. Being a woman she's more likely to relate to that.
Explain to her that somebody you exchange views with --- me --- has a friend whose college professor and wife and two little girls were on the plane that hit the south tower. That the terrorists were on the same plane, and must have seen these little girls, and yet piloted that plane into the WTC without remorse or a second's hesitation.
If we display weakness with these serial killers, they will come back for more forever. She is from a different culture and the best thing for her to think about is to try to understand people from another culture radically different from hers.
To look into that culture may give her a deep, profound chill.

Explain to her that somebody you exchange views with --- me --- has a friend whose college professor and wife and two little girls were on the plane that hit the south tower. I know people connected with 9/11, both folks with family on the planes and one AA pilot who SHOULD have been on the plane (according to his own guilt ridden account) and this still hits me like a brick in the face. My condolences to your friend and prayers for all of our healing.
I greatly enjoyed reading, but never exchanged messages with, Barbara Olsen here on FR. When I found out she was on one of the planes it felt like a friend had died.
This is personal, folks. This is real basic right versus wrong. George Bush is right. John Kerry and his supporters are wrong. I make no apologies for that comment. In fact I'm proud of it.
