Been rather busy job hunting. Still having the occasional flareup, but nothing like the spasms I was having a couple of weeks ago.
I see One Note Johnny can't stand the thought of not being in the spotlight during an election year.

BREAKING--SHEIK AHMED YASSIN, THE FOUNDER AND LEADER OF HAMAS, HAS BEEN KILLED BY MISSILES FIRED FROM ISRAELI HELICOPTERS AS HE LEFT A MOSQUE. THREE OTHERS WERE KILLED IN THE ATTACK, ALONG WITH ELEVEN WOUNDED
If we hadn't been eating (yeh, I know, how redneck - having dinner in front of the news) my father and I would have burst out in applause at this. As it was, a lot of "DAMN GOOD"s, and "Praise the Lords" were exchanged over the chicken curry.
The first of many, I hope. The only thing these Arab scum seem to understand is large-calibre weapons in their underpants.

21 degrees here this morning. The sky is clear and for today there is no wind.
We've been having horrible winds. Saturday I was nearly blown off the road a couple of times.
The wind dries the soil so we can plant our crops,, but IMO it is overkill to try to dry things out in 2 days!
The men on our farm are busy getting the planting equipment ready to roll. It will take about 4 weeks to get everything planted and seeded,,,, if they aren't interupted by rain.

Thanks for the welcomes. I've been catching up a bit and can't believe that John Kerry swore at his Secret Service detail because he took a spill on his snowboard.
What the heck is up with this? He truly demonstrates that he is unfit for leadership in ANY capacity. He's nothing but a spoiled blueblood.

My sister-in-law lives outside of Wichita. She said the wind was so strong, if it wasn't nailed down, it was gone.

Wasn't that a wonderful movie??? I think that last year in general was an outstanding year for movies..
Last night I went to a showing of double feature of Last Samurai & Master & Commander... both excellent.. and the music in both great.
There were some mediocre/passing movies last year.. but MANY outstanding ones..

I'm glad you have also seen the movie. I sometimes hesitate to recommend movies because people's tastes vary, but I just thought this one was so weel-done!
And yes, you are right...you laugh, then you cry. All in all, though, a movie that made me feel good about getting older, about family, and about things like truth and honor.

Yes, that was a great movie. Unfortunately it got little attention, which is a shame. Plus, it managed to tell a great story without gobs of special effects and explosions.
I think that is one DVD I will buy, along with Seabiscuit. Also the complete LOTR set when it comes out later this year.

I haven't welcomed you either...so welcome! I am glad to see you here!

Glad you are back safely.. was afraid old man winter would welcome you back.
I am busy trying to organize .. with another local man.. a mini get together from our graduating class. We had our reunion this summer & decided to try to have small , happy hour type get togethers a few times a year. No big deal, room renting.. just announce place, time etc.. & whomever can make it does.
sent email out today (it is Fri night) and will do some calling in next day or so. The "helper" is a NASA engineer who was a good friend in HS.. a few decades back.. Opps.. chair says I am 29.. so couldn't be that long ago, could it?

Hi there, thanks for the welcome! I post here occasionally, but only when I have something to say...
Sounds like you've had problems of your own. My grandparents (rest their souls) used to live out in grain and sunflower country... the Darling Downs, west of Brisbane, Australia. I'm a city/suburban girl myself, but I have sympathy for the plight of the farmers... you know, some of our farming country hasn't had decent rain for years?
(Australia... driest continent on earth, with the exception of Antarctica)

That's what I think. It is one of those movies like "It's a Wonderful Life" that didn't do so well at the box office but are watched over and over in the years to come.

G'day to you both from Down Under.
You know, when I lived in America (2002-2003), I missed Australia. Now, paradoxically, I miss the US. Or certain parts of it, anyway.
It's 11pm Monday here and I should be in bed... I have some phonecalls to make to the Salem, Oregon PD tomorrow morning... ah, with the time difference I'm sure I could make them soon (a couple of hours anyway)... but I've had too much red wine and I need my sleep!
Cheers - KJ

You may want to try a Therma care hot pack which can be purchased at most drugstores. They are thin strips which stay heated for 8 hours and are not detectable under clothing. They work!
