Mind if I rant?

I just got back from my second trip of the day looking for a vehicle. Okay, as far as a pickup goes, if that's what I end up getting I know what's important to me. I want a 1/2 ton extended cab with any V8 and manual tranny. Okay, I know they're rare. Have known that forever.

But the MEN who come out to sell vehicles at car lots really piss me off!!!

"Well, why do you need a manual transmission?" DUH! Because I want one.

"Well, ma'am, you really don't need that V8, a V6 will do." [WN restrains herself from slapping]

"Well, ma'am, women don't usually want things like that." I don't give a flying fig what any other woman ever asked you for!!! Just tell me if you got one or can get me one!!!!

And last but not least, "If you want to look like a gal with a really hot truck you just need to buy one that looks flashy, you don't need the performance!" I am still shaking at that one!!!! If I wanted something that *looked* hot, I'd have that *NOW* instead of a little normal looking pickup with an old muscle car engine and a manual! Freakin' dumb*$$*$!!!!

BTW the only sales person who found what I wanted was a lady. Imagine that.

You're entitled to rant. I can't believe the attitude salesmen have towards women. They do everything in their power to get you to buy what *they* want to sell you, rather than what have actually asked for. Someday in the not too far ahead future, we are going to have to buy a car for me. We won't be buying until 2005, so no salesman will want to touch us ~ no sale = no commission. Hopefully, that will keep the dogs at bay!

I REALLY identify with your experience! I have a little ford ranger with a manual transmission, and every time I've gone car/truck shopping I've had to go through the song and dance about why I don't want an automatic. Grrrr... Those guys drive me crazy and they waste so much of my time!
