Dona called to ask about Kitty and was told that the vet wants to talk to me. He's in surgery right now so the call won't be coming for awhile, but I can't imagine this isn't bad news of some kind. No one has said a word about any kind of problem except that he's slow in coming-around to eating on his own, and even that was described as normal in his circumstance. So can't imagine what it might be. One worry does leap to mind: what if he wants to go back in and have a look? Whew! What then?Next email:
Examination this morning, expected to be good, was not. It's in his lymph system. Lymph nodes were found that were not there yesterday. [they found Cancer there - Hair] The vet said he was devastated when he found them this morning - "felt like I'd been hit in the stomach". The vet says this is quite a cat to which he's become quite attached and has some happy time left, so thinks we owe him that after all he's been through and should bring him home.
Dad and Dona are really sad about this.... They knew there was a chance of a return of this ~someday~ but they don't like knowing that someday is already here. The vet never would have done the surgery if he had known.... But I think the surgery itself brought on this reaction, for it to be so fast. He's had a good life, whenever they decide it is time for it to end.
