I've been surfing the internet for good knives, and I've come to the conclusion that we can't depend on having one knife, at a great price, available forever. We have to plan for the long haul. Therefore, I'm looking at different brands of knives that meet the Hobbit Hole standards, are priced right, and are available from many dealers. I'm starting to sound like a purchasing agent.

When it comes time to buy more knives, I'll shop around for the best deal on any of the HHD-approved knives out there. That means that the troops may receive different knives at different times. They'll all meet out standards, though.

In order to do this properly, I've assigned myself the dreary chore of buying one of each knife for evaluation purposes. It's a tough job, bu someone's gotta do it. :) So I have a Camillus Arclite on the way. They have a version costing $4 more, which includes a belt sheath, pocket clip, and other thingies for attaching to web gear, etc. It would be a better deal than the neck-knife-only model.

Another knife I'm getting is the Gerber Parafram II. It looks like a vey good under-$25 (barely) folding lockback.

And CRKT makes (made) a neck-knife called the "Stiff Kiss". As luck would have it, it is no longer in production, but it appears to still be out there among the dealers. It also has the extra pieces to attach the knife to various things.

So we may have two or three kinds of HH knives in the inventory, depending on market conditions. But we'll always have something for the troops.

This knife looks very similar to the one my brother carries in his boot. Could be the same knife.
