freepers, who wrote this book?

I am a librarian trying to answer a patron's question: a book was written by a former congressman who is also a doctor. The book might concern the behind-the-scenes of congress, perks, crazy shenanigans, etc. Patron believes the author was in the House of Rep, a republican, but doesnt know state or name or title. I tried c-span booknotes and the book show, but no luck. Any help would be appreciated.

William H. Frist is a doctor currently in the Senate and he's written a couple books. I can't think of any doctors from Congress.
