I sayest that this will be a Christian anthem that will rival (probably even surpass) any other movie made. In its first five days it grossed $117 million in U.S. sales alone. When it is released in predominantly Catholic South America, Spain, Italy, etc., it will sky rocket. The Passion will continue pulling strongly throughout Lent and have a spike around Easter Sunday...It will then become a Christian anthem called upon on the High Holy Days in perpetuity.
Watch the LORD move and shake Mightely...Watch the devil rear his ugly head...PRAY!
"Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I shall fear no evil...Thy rod and thy staff they comfort me".
But my sense is that it will not surpass Titanic. Oddly enough, Titanic didn't get off to a fast start; Passion has. Right there, the dynamics of the two movies are different. I suspect that Titanic's success was due to 15 year old girls seeing the film umpteen times because of Leonard DiCaprio. Again, that kind of dynamic isn't working with "Passion." I will see "The Passion" again in the theaters. I know a lot of people will see it a second time. But I don't think people will see it "umpteen" times. I hope I'm wrong.
