If you don't adjust for inflation, this is a rather useless exercise. #1 adjusted is Gone With the Wind, and #2 is Star Wars. Both grossed over $1 billion in present dollars. Passion will very well be the #1 movie this year, but it won't be the #1 movie of all time, at least not this year. It may keep playing around Easter that it might make it eventually, but probably not.

I don't think it will be the "greatest of all time." Sounds like a Muhammed Ali claim. I think the first crowds are being swelled by church goers who are not the typical movie-going demographic. That will fall off soon. But it still will be one of the biggest of all time. Going out on limb, aren't I?

I need to see some numbers from 'Titanic' and where 'The Passion of The Christ' is now. Then I will give you your answer.

It may keep playing around Easter that it might make it eventually, but probably not.Would you be willing to bet Dick Morris a New Yoak stake dinner? Never mind, I don't want the focus to leave the Passion :o)

It well may be, because of the division in our society right now. The moral decline of the liberals strikes fear in most of us. I PRAY it will be!

Movie totals.Althougn koblenz is correct that you get different numbers for Titanic in comparison to other films after you adjust for inflation.

What sayest thou? I sayest that this will be a Christian anthem that will rival (probably even surpass) any other movie made. In its first five days it grossed $117 million in U.S. sales alone. When it is released in predominantly Catholic South America, Spain, Italy, etc., it will sky rocket. The Passion will continue pulling strongly throughout Lent and have a spike around Easter Sunday...It will then become a Christian anthem called upon on the High Holy Days in perpetuity.
Watch the LORD move and shake Mightely...Watch the devil rear his ugly head...PRAY!
"Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I shall fear no evil...Thy rod and thy staff they comfort me".

Here are the stats on Titanic:
http://www.boxofficemojo.com/movies/?id=titanic.htm Here's the Passion:
http://www.boxofficemojo.com/movies/?page=daily&id=passionofthechrist.htm I think that it easily could, if it keeps going strong. But, Passion won't do the same level of repeat business that Titanic did. I plan to see it again in the theater, because I found it so shocking that I don't feel that I truly saw the whole movie, but I may not be typical.
But, today I was in the library looking for something in the religion section, and I was delighted to see that there were quite a lot of spaces where books on Christianity had been checked out. I go to that section from time to time, and I've never seen that before. I am hoping and praying that the movie is inspiring people to faith.

Actually they underestimated. It's actually grossed over $125 million in it's first five days!

I predict that the book the movie is based on will be number 1 for a very long time.
