This shrink disagrees with your analysis.

Ooooh, a shrink!

Are you a licensed psychologist? Full license, or restricted? Or are you just a "QMHP" who enjoys waving the "shrink" word around to impress people?

Gee, wasn't good ol' Dick "Hot Tub" Boylan a licensed psychologist? Well, so much for that label impressing anyone. Dang, and you were so close...

PS: I didn't give an "analysis". I gave a lay opinion, and urged the person to consult with her physician. I didn't notice anyone else urging her to seek medical help. If you are a psychologist, does your state have laws that penalize licensed professionals who discourage people with conditions that trouble them from seeing medical assistance from their physicians?

You might want to tread carefully, when other folks' health is at stake. I'd hate to see you end up like ol' Hot Tub, after all.

Myyyyyyyyyyyy.

What an awesome skill to come across as a haughty hot-shot.

My professors, clients and supervisors over the last 25 years have been plenty lauditory about my skills, thank you. I'll be 57 shortly and am reasonably content teaching and helping my step-dad care for my mother who has Alzheimer's.

I've more than paid plenty of dues helping many 100's of individuals, couples and families have better relationships and lives in the USA, Mainland China and Taiwan. I have no need to note my PhD in clinical psych to impress anyone per se. I do occasionally note my training as evidence that my opinions in such matter may have some training and experience to go with them for those who wish to consider that. Since you enjoy considering that used toilet-paper out of such a cheery personality and great depth of charity--help yourself. I don't have a great of need to defend such further with you.

You were at least attempting to come across as more or less a super know-it-all on the topic. It was a fitting point to assert that someone with professional training had a different opinion.

I have typically rarely had any need to discourage anyone seeing anyone they thought helpful to their growth, sanity or sleeping nights. What s snotty notion!

I still say, from the limited info I had, there was no obvious indication that I recall to even hint that a visit to her MD was worth her bother, much less necessary. Just because it was your opinion, doesn't make it so.

Personally, if someone needs meds or counsel or whatever--they should seek it out. If they don't, why bother.

It's interesting that as a layman you hold yourself out to be such an emphatic expert. Have you taken courses in pontificating from the Pope?
