I would not consider Betty to be an seriously intelligent exponent of the Christian faith.

Married to a Finnish husband who was always gone working to support her and her 7 children, she turned to local low-income Pentecostalist church for support and companionship, but her degree of devoutness and intelligent commitment there was seriously overstated IMHO by the writers and investigators,

because she lived in...drum roll...MASSACHUSETTS, and the leftist secularists probably considered they had more in common with the ALIENS, than with anyone who could even toy with such a faith. IMHO Betty's fling with the Pentys was mostly over by the time the aliens arrived.

Those perspectives parallel feelings I had reading her books. But I didn't have data to back up the feelings.
