All I know is what I see. I have been watching for these things for a long time and have seen no activity. Further, I believe there is no intelligent life anywhere in the galaxy except this solar system and probably just this planet. Maybe another galaxy has intelligent life, but that would be of no concern to us. That's how it looks, and 95 percent of the time things are as they appear to be.

I realize you very much try to avoid a TYPE I error but seem to care little about how serious your TYPE II errors might turn out to be.
A 5% risk of being wrong about choosing the color shirt to wear at an office party is one thing.
A 5% risk of spending eternity in an uncomfortable place is a different sort of thing.
