Isn't it wonderful that the biggest smack down I've seen by a journalist in public of the liberal press IS A FREEPER? Hah!

Kerry is not a 10 foot tall Cylon.....he is very beatable. We need to all relax....it is going to be a long 9 months and we can't worry over every twist and turn.

Have faith!

Mort revealed a tidbit tonight....it seems the Kerry camp wants Edwards to stay in the race and keep losing so Kerry will have an opponent and he can keep winning to keep his name in the news.

You're staying remarkably calm; I'm a wreck and needed to hear reassuring words.

You're right, of course.

I'm generally calm, but the ugliness of the media and the Rats has me so angry that now I'm not thinking rationally and I really dislike feeling as ugly as they sound. If you know what I mean.

Peach, I felt just like you today. Media had me in a knot. Dog, we will need your wise words around here on a regular basis I think. Thanks.

I'm glad we have a freeper in the White House Press Corpse (not a typo) asking questions like that. Now, to see if the lame-stream media covers it...

Dad's obituary will run in tomorrow's Ft. Worth Startlegram (Star-Telegram). It looks good. I'm proud of who my father was, and all he did.

It also looks like I'm going to have two ex's at the funeral, and a possible third. Sheesh! This is awkward, but everybody has promised to behave. ;>)

UGH! Watched a little of Kerry's speech in Virginia tonite...

I'm trying to stay calm too, but it does look like one McAwful plan has finally worked: getting a fairly strong candidate out in front early on. Edwards may serve the purpose you mention prairie, but that's about all he's good for...The rest are toast.

If you start worrying, just think of 2 women: Teresa and Jane Fonda.

Those are at least 2 liabilities for His Boorness, the soon-to-be-anointed Dem candidate.

Both Glenn Beck and Limbaugh played combinations today of the I Have a Scream Speech, and AlGore's Sunday explosion. Too funny! Limbaugh at least predicted it was only a matter of time til Kerry reached the boiling point too. His leftie supporters will demand it, and then you know...the Wellstone Memorial all over again.

When my husband saw the Gore clip, that was his prediction, that the Dems would keep at it until they went over the cliff again.

I'm sure all will be well. Seems to be a testament to at least your father that those ex's want to attend the funeral:-)

Fortunately, I've had the sound muted on the TV for the last hour, as I was engaged in blowing up Klingons, Romulans, and whatnot. Much more fun to talk to fellow Starship captains than discuss politics, which we always leave at the door. Very stress reducing when you can blow up the enemy. ;^)

So true..

Brother and I tried to work out how much of North Texas infrastructure contained compentents that Dad's construction company built. We started close to the original homestead and moved outward. He did a lot of work at Carswell AFB (Now, NAS/JRB, Ft. Worth).

He did a lot of the water and sewage treatment plants in Lake Worth, Lakeside, Ft. Worth, Aubry, White Settlement, Sache, Rowlett, Azle, Benbrook, Possum Kingdom, Lake Proctor.... and the list goes on and on. Dad was a builder of infrastructure. His work will go un-noticed by most, but it affects so many lives. I pray that I can live up to the standard that he set.

how can I get my hands on a copy of LIFE Magazine dated April 23,1971?
Dog, your library ought to have Life magazine from that period on microfilm. It may also be on a digitized archive. As Molly Pitcher wrote, ask your reference librarian. If you can't find it, let me know, and I'll put it on my list next time I'm at the Libray of Congress, which will be in one or two weeks.

Elsewhere, there are some fabulous new resources you can use, the product of those great American traits, genuis and competition. The last century of popular magazines and newspapers are being digitized. Unfortunately, the NY Times and Wash Post have taken advantage of it, but so, also, has the Wall Street Journal. Proquest, to which your library likely subscribes, has digitized these journals from the 19th century on, and you can key-word search them with great accuracy. Try it out on Kerry. You can search via article titles (limited) or article text (expansive and will be overwhelming), but it will dig up every instance of the word "kerry."

Depending on your local college, microfishe on just about every serious publication dating back to the 1900's may be available. My local university has the actual TIME copies dating back to the late '30s in actual copy, and Newsweek from the 70's. They have the NYT and Times of London going back well into the 19th century on micro.

The Times stories on the British losses in WW1 were stunning, and during my research(for a paper), I never even made it to the Somme. But I do know why it's such a horrid word in Britain now.

Sorry, we're aiming for the same thing, but when I get into a college library, I become a historian again. I love studying the USSR, WW1, WW2, and the immediate in-between the last two. And I'm dying to get my hands on a copy of the translated KGB files we got our hands on! ;^)
