Give me a break - similar to a leftist, you take an isolated incident and apply it to all police.
Lost police effectiveness is not because the cops can't beat up people.
Yet again, the leftist cry. No one has mentioned taking aside someone just walking down the street and beating them up. In the midst of a disturbance involving violence or the threat of violence, police do have to react with controlled violence. they can't just ask pretty please. Permissive courts are only part of the problem.
There are many such stories, right here on FR.
And they are that - stories. Guess what - if you are not involved in a crime and your door gets busted down, you can own that police force through criminal and civil suits. Every time I've heard one of those 'I wasn't doing nothing' stories, it's been a 'I wasn't doing anything really illegal' story.
Yes, there are bad cops like any profession but they are the small minority and not part of a vast police state conspiracy.
Please, your insults are not necessary or appreciated. Drop the attitude.
Gee, sorry you've never had anyone stridently disagree with your opinion. Can't stand the heat....
The line of reasoning you advocate is only a step away from crossing over to a Judge Dread if you ask me. Cop, judge, jury, and executioner all rolled into one.
Not even. I've seen cops take down criminals in the process of slicing people up, I've seen the tape of a cop slam a guy just like in the video after a high speed motorcycle chase that left 5 seriously injured on his path (two shot while he sped away from the initial scene), and when he stopped because of an engine failure, he started to draw his weapon again. Yes, he was body tackled hard off of the bike and luckily, he was the only one injured that time. We splinted him, restrained him, and into the back of the rig he went for treatment.
There's no judge, jury, executioner mindthought there - it is controlling a dangerous person rapidly and completely.
It is the utter lack of comprehension of reality on the streets of folks like yourself that creates an 'us versus them' mentality.
To keep the peace means having to control those that would do evil - your thinking would rather have had the UN keep the peace in Iraq.
Not isolated at all! Here in my own home state of Texas, we've had an out of control FBI/ATF at Waco using unnecessary violence ending in the death of dozens of innocent women and children. A whole team of cops in Dallas convicted for planting evidence and making false arrests, a racist cop in Tulia making false arrests. They even killed one of their own in a SWAT raid in Lubbock Texas. The raid was over a domestic abuse. The guy's wife got angry and called the police, said he was holed up with a gun. Turns out he had no gun, was sitting on the couch talking on the phone to a negotiator when the SWAT spent 239 rounds of ammo into his house. These are not isolated events. These are not "stories" as you imply but real events. Open your eyes man.
"Yet again, the leftist cry. No one has mentioned taking aside someone just walking down the street and beating them up."
While I agree we should avoid simplyfying the argurment in such terms, you are trying to imply these cops in this article didn't do anything wrong. You seem to be justifying their actions. These cops obviously exceeding their authority in this case. You seem to want to ignore it and pretend such things aren't significant.
"Guess what - if you are not involved in a crime and your door gets busted down, you can own that police force through criminal and civil suits."
Doesn't do me any good if I'm dead from the police abuse.
"Yes, there are bad cops like any profession but they are the small minority and not part of a vast police state conspiracy."
Agreed, but then I'm not advocating we have a police state, not yet anyway.
"Gee, sorry you've never had anyone stridently disagree with your opinion. Can't stand the heat...." </>
I enjoy a good debate any time. But insults, such as your telling me to go back to "DU and calling me a "leftist" is not debate. It is designed to inflame. It is directed anger and hatred. It is not necessary nor tolerated on this forum.
