I was doing a bit of research on them, and it seems that children under the age of ten *can* get them, but it is vey rare... That it is usually in response to some sort of trauma like possibly slamming a hand in the cardoor or something on that order.
He doesn't remember ever hurting his wrist or hand. I guess he could have fallen on the playground and forgotten about it. However, that just doesn't seem traumatic enough to cause a cyst.
It is most common in women between ages of 20-40. hmm.
