I just got my two sample EMT shears. They'll sell us the standard $2.95 ones for $2.20. Mine is just like any other, a tool that can come in handy, and doesn't cost much. If we get them, they will have the black handles.

I also got one of the fancier kinds, which sells for $10.95. It might be a great little item for a tool box or survival kit. But it's got a lot of sharp edges, and would definitely have to be carried in some sort of sheath. It's definitely overkill for what our troops need.

Still, if you're interested in it, it has a saw blade, can opener, screwdriver, wire strippers, notched cutter, oxygen valve wrench, and lid grippers. If anyone wants one, I can order it along with the regular snips.

I'm thinking of buying 50 shears, and will start sending them out with the knives. You folks that are making up your own care packages might want to include some, too. Let me know how many, and I'll mail them to you.

I think the shears are a great idea WM. I am out of funds here though so I can't help you with them now. How are you looking on funds at your end?

Yep, those are pretty common shears in the hospital. I've used them many times.

I'm waiting to hear back from my connection in Afghanistan...he is supposedly over a group of soldiers there.
