Oh yes, I have had several sinus infections over the years. In addition to the pain, it is impossible to breathe through the nose. I would recommend getting an expectorant and decongestant, like you find in Robitussin. My understanding is that the expectorant thins the mucus, and the decongestant helps it drain.
Once the infection starts to clear, you will begin blowing out big chunks of think greenish-yellowish-brownish gunk... and I often gets pieces of what looks like blood vessel.
Oh, and if you have a humidifier, get it cranked up.
Hope it gets better soon, Rosie. That stuff ain't any fun.

From what you and Bear have said, I don't think I have an infection...just sore sinuses. My nose still worst, for one! Probably just dry air...which is a relief.
I'm going to crank up the humidifier a bit higher than usual and see if just being in a nice slightly humid place will help. It's horribly dry at work.

ecchhh. If you do take a expectorant, careful not to mix it with antihistimine. That is what is good about the saline spray, you can do that with whatever medicine you take too.

Sinutab has a combination thinner/decongestant too... pseudoephedrine (sudafed) with something else. Really opens me up when my nose is especially stuffy.
