I didn't think it was a perfect book, but for the most part really enjoyed it. Except that it's a hard one to put down...she does a good job of keeping you guessing and wanting to see what bit of the mystery she'll reveal next. And jumping from time to time keeps things moving.

I like the fact that she's done her background research in Old English as well as in medicine and time travel--very thorough job on the science side of the SF. I like it so far, but I'm not ready to join Jen in putting it above LotR yet--of course I think LotR is the best fiction book in the world, so it's a high bar to clear :)

Was going to tell you guys...when I was looking for books on tape, I found that they have Beowulf in Old English. Not something I'd wanna try to run while listening to, but I've GOT to get that out sometime!
