One develops a sixth sense when a multi-Precious gets close... the urge to "pull the trigger" becomes overwhelming...
By the way, how does it feel to have made 13.35% of last week's posts to the thread?
Sniff--I couldn't have done it without the Lord, my Mom, and Elvis. . .and I'd also like to thank my agent--and my producer--and the best boy--and the gaffer--and the special effects people at ILM--and my high-school drama teacher (goes on for 10 minutes like Halle Berry at Oscars). . .
The last comment about locking is what happened later to our ~last~ thread. They aren't upset at us.... but good to keep them happy.
Thank you. What I was just demonstrating is what happens when we have to remove a comment on a thread that has several thousands of replies.
I just removed the two replies before this post here, and that is what caused that slowdown.
Some seem to think we just locked that other thread for the fun of it. No, there is a glitch with removing replies on threads that are that big. And considering that this thread had been attracting some trolls, and attracting some returning bannees, and had some flamewars occasionally erupting, we couldn't continually bring the site to a standstill to clean things up.
That is why it was locked.
As for why the Hobbit Hole thread has not had such a fate, simply put, it hasn't required us to remove many comments. We'll probably have to lock it soon. I only hope that me explaining this will not cause some to go and post crap on it in an effort to get it locked.
Thanks for your help in the demonstration. LM
