What fear have I
of the darkling sky
with the light of your eye
to navigate by?

The flight I make
you and I shall take,
as the wings beat their rhythm in time
with our tremulous hearts.

Your cloak covers us,
as do our arms, and
our bodies' warmth,
but the shivers do not
cease. Why?

Not of the cold, but
of the closeness of each other,
thrilling in our flight, as
our eyes meet close,
my fingers reassure me of your cheek,

and the taste of your stolen kiss
a draught of cordial
on our midnight flight

to love.

Come sit a spell with me
in my back yard this day
for stories long we will tell
of loves that got away
We'll sip cold drinks and sweat
in the heat of day
by night we'll be refreshed and new
by the fallen dew
and in the twilight hours thin
we'll spin our stories grand
of living in fairy land
for you see there well be
just the two of us, you and me...
