I've got a Maltese mix, and you can't go near the kitchen without the 4-legged cottonball following on your heels. (And that's only time the dog will heel.) That dog could have just finished last night's leftovers, and still focus his liquid black eyes pitifully on your face if you try to eat one bite of food for yourself. I love him, but "Maltese" is Basque for "pig", or sumpthin like that.

I love that image. BTW, the first known written history of the breed was actually authored by the Greek philosopher Aristotle around 350 B.C., where he attributed the origin of the breed to the Island of Malta in the Mediterranean Sea - hence the name "Maltese".
