You're probably right but I don't think Steinbrenner is as vindictive as to undo honors for Roger, other than possibly the Hummer (and Houstonians have already proved they can replace the Hummer - besides he can afford his own).
This is a one-year rental but what it does do is take the rotation as deep as the Cubs which, psychologically, is a big deal. Imagine the pitching matchups when those two teams go head-to-head in a four-game series.

How can they afford Clemens? For one, he'll pay some of his own salary with increased attendance at the ballpark. Secondly, have you looked at the Astros' bench? Jose Vizcaino may be the only making above the minimum salary. Finally, there are rumors that Richard Hidalgo's $12 million salary is going to be moved, possibly to the Dodgers, for far less in return.

Welcome to the National League, Roger. Pitchers over here have to step into the batters' box.
Just a thought.

George's head must be exploding right about now you wanna see a head explode? wait until Roger steps into the batters box; I will bet you right now he does not last the season.

You're right that the Boss won't undo anything, but he also won't be doing anything for Roger, either -- there's not going to be another Roger Clemens Day anytime soon! As for which logo Roger should have on his HOF plaque, he should have a little picture of himself on the baseball cap on his plaque, as that's the only "team" he is loyal to. And I can't wait until he has to get into the batter's box on a regular basis. he cares about!

McClain (sp?) spent a lot of time complaining publicly about the profitability of the Stros. Like Nolan Ryan, the name Clements will draw enough of a crowd to justify the salary (maybe). I just find it ironic that after all the noise about the Astros franchise being in the red, McClain goes on a multi-million dollar shopping spree.

Heard what really did it besides his friendship with Andy, was his sons giving him an Astros' cap they all signed, for Christmas. Maybe I missed it in the thread if it was posted, but was curious if anybody else heard this.
Good to see him playing for the hometown.
