Late to the party again - but this time I have an excuse.
We just got our electricity back - had a hugely bad wind/rain storm. In fact, it was so bad that the wind blew rain through double paned windows and our blinds are soaked. Rained so hard that had it been snow we would have drifts 4 ft. high. What a mess. Just glad that it was a holiday and not a big traffic day!
Belated Happy New Year greetings to all.

Bummer! Imagine you have tons of towels to wash and dry after sopping up the rain.
Glad you're back with us.
Happy New Year, and may things improve for you from this point on.

Just got home from the hospital, the Dr. said it is serious she could go either way, notified my brother in NC and my sister in Grand Rapids. The roads are treacherous, freezing rain. Thank you for the prayers. Two of my sisters is spending the night and I will take the day shift tomorrow.

We've gotten word of a major milestone in grandson's life ..... he lost his first tooth today ... :-)
He's upset because it came out when he was brushing his teeth and went down the drain. He fears the Tooth Fairy will not come to see him since he doesn't have the tooth. His mommy has reassured him that the note he has written will cover him and he will probably have something under his pillow even without the tooth.

Glad y'all came through the storm ok (if being without FR for a while can be considered 'ok' ... *grins*). Sounds like you have quite a mess to deal with now, though.

We do have a mess, but at least the wind didn't drive the rain through the wall! The blinds are double pleated material and when you hold them up sidewise, the water just runs out of the pleats. What a feeling - who woulda thunk that water could be driven through double paned glass?
Before the big onslaught this morning, we went out to breakfast and were seated diagonally across from an older man dining alone. I overhead him telling the waitress that today was his 80th birthday, so, of course, I had to stick my big nose in and wish him a Happy Birthday. He was a lovely person and we all had a nice conversation. When we left, we exchanged Happy New Years, and he actually thanked me for taking the time to wish him a HB. Amazing.

ML: Asthma is such a frightening disease - you will be in my thoughts and prayers for a return to normalcy. Those medicines take such a toll - hugs.

Kay, I was actually having withdrawals. No FReeping, no surfing......ahhhhhh!
By candle light buckled down, paid bills and put together pieces of a bookmarker scrapbook I've been fooling with for forever. Then, miraculously, the heat came on (central heat and air that doesn't work without electricity) and the lights began to shine.
Yippee!!! I could FReep.

Sorry to hear that you cold has affected your asthma.
My husband has been fighting the cold/asthma for about three weeks and, finally, got the doctor to give him some prednisone. Took him about three days on the prednisone to start feeling better. Still doing some coughing, but his regular medication seems to be taking care of what's left of the cold/asthma attack.
Prayers that you will recover soon and will be able to see your favorite Private off tomorrow. Incidentally, he is in my prayers and will be there for the duration.

Thanks sweeties. I am not doing too well. I most likely will not be going out to the airport. That's okay, his daddy has the day off & he will take him.
