What is the National Republican Congressional Committe? (Vanity)

Today my husband received a phone call from the NRCC with a personal invitation from Rep. Reynolds of New York, to come to Washington, D.C., have dinner with the President, and be on the Business Advisory Committee.

Is this just a fund raiser or what?
I called the number to make sure it wasn't a hoax and looked on the web but I don't know anything about the NRCC and I am hoping fellow Freepers know more than I about it.

I believe you are also asked to join your state's GOP Steering committee. (translation=steer more $$$ their way and get your ego stroked.)

I wish I could get off some of their call lists. Between the Senate, Congress, President, and GOP, I get way too many calls.
