Hi GretchenEE:
Just catching up on some old Hobbit Hole threads. Regarding Eomer as Aragorn; Aragorn was supposed to be, well, less than good looking. (Look fouler and feel fairer, to paraphrase Frodo) Eomer, on the other hand, is GORGEOUS *sigh*. He's my favorite heartthrob in the movie - replacing Legolas and Faramir - close seconds. No, Eomer is too good-looking, and a fit man to take the place of Theoden as king of Rohan - which I assume he did. From the beginning, I was never much interested in Aragorn. I liked the Aragorn in the book, but the Viggo Mortensen version did nothing for me!

From the beginning, I was never much interested in Aragorn. I liked the Aragorn in the book, but the Viggo Mortensen version did nothing for me! The more I see of Viggo's Aragorn, the less I can stomach him. He's way toooo wussy and whispery and reluctant. I was holding out for this to change in the RotK, and when he pulled that reluctant step up to the throne with a shake of his head, I about gagged. NO WAY was it credible to me.
I'm on my third listen to the BBC tapes of LotR with Ian Holm as Frodo and even the man they cast as Aragorn is awful -- too arrogant! I like all the others in the BBC cast (excepting the 80-year-old sounding Arwen). So I guess the Numenoreans really, really are a lost line. ;-)
