My step-mom died at this time 10 years ago. She had three cats at the time. About a month later, my dad called me late one night, vey upset. One of the cats was missing. They were indoor/outdoor cats, and he assumed a coyote had a kitty dinner.
By the next week, I hadn't heard any update. He informed me that the next day, the MIA kitty was found in his skivvy drawer, were she had appartently hid the day before.

That doesn't work at my house. If the cat is on the other side of a closed door, I get to hear him pawing it, then I may hear meows or see a front leg stretched under the door.
