"Christ was someone who sought out people who were disenfranchised, people who were left behind," Howard Dean said. "He fought against self-righteousness of people who had everything . . . He was a person who set an extraordinary example that has lasted 2000 years, which is pretty inspiring when you think about it."
Dean's description tells us a lot. Nothing about Christ as Saviour or as God. To read this, Christ was just another Rob Reiner or George Soros...do-gooders with a political agenda.

I didn't know hilly had four fur coats, now five...
Wonder what she does with them since I've never seen her in one.
Maybe she sells them on EBay then gives the cash to unions so they could buy up copies of that awful screed she dares to call a book.

Howie isn't certain if
Osama bin Laden is guilty of murdering three thousand people.
I expect the next stupid thing out of Howie's mouth will be we should turn the other cheek regarding OBL.

He was a person who set an extraordinary example Only Howie Dean could "damn with faint praise" the Son of God.

Hillary's fur coats were the subject of much derision at the same time she and Willie were snatching the White House silver & furniture. In fact, it was those first hillarious threads which eventually became "The Ladies Investigative Guild"...looking for clues about her fur coats, her "shower" gifts, how she furnished that new house so fast, etc. Ahhhhh, those were some funny threads.

I should add Mr. M's sarcastic comment on Howard Dean's characterization of Jesus Christ as an extraordinary example: "That was quite an 'atta boy!'"

"Best Examples of Media Bias for the Year, If It Won't Ruin Your Christmas". Examples:
Mike Taibbi in Baghdad: ''While the end to the Saddam regime means a return to long-denied freedoms for all Iraqis, it may also mean at least a temporary rollback of some hard-won freedoms for millions of Iraqi women.... While Saddams regime brutalized women rape, torture, even beheadings his secular government also gave women more rights than their counterparts in many other Islamic countries.'' NBC Nightly News, April 22.
''Attorney General John Ashcroft has earned himself a remarkable distinction as the Torquemada of American law. Tomas de Torquemada...was largely responsible for... [the] torture and the burning of heretics Muslims in particular. Now, of course, I am not accusing the attorney general of pulling out anyones fingernails or burning people at the stake (at least I dont know of any such cases). But one does get the sense these days that the old Spaniards spirit is comfortably at home in Ashcrofts Department of Justice.'' Former CBS Evening News anchor Walter Cronkite in his syndicated column published in the September 22, Philadelphia Inquirer.

I missed those days of the Guild as I didn't get thrown off Lucianne until a few months into 2001. Wishing now I had been a bad girl much, much sooner. :-)

Dear Heaven, Cronkite makes my blood boil.
Here's a great quote from 2003:
If she had lived, Mary Jo Kopechne would be 62 years old. Through his tireless work as a legislator, Edward Kennedy would have brought comfort to her in her old age.
Charles Pierce in a January 5 Boston Globe Magazine article. Kopechne drowned while trapped in Kennedys submerged car off Chappaquiddick Island in July 1969, an accident Kennedy did not report for several hours.

If any of us had realized where they were leading, someone would have preserved those early threads. I wish you could read them...they were rip-roaring funny!

60 Minutes, Sunday night...
Also on t.v. on Sunday, Laura Bush and Caroline Kennedy on Meet the Press...

In his first interview since being charged with child molestation, pop star Michael Jackson (news) vehemently denies the allegations but insists there is nothing wrong in sleeping with children, according to excerpts released December 26, 2003 by CBS News. 'Before I would hurt a child, I would slit my wrists,' Jackson told correspondent Ed Bradley in an interview scheduled to be shown Sunday on '60 Minutes.' REUTERS/CBS-60 Minutes/Handout NO SALES

Poor Hilly, could not wear those Denise Rich coats because she denied she had them. She also had a penchant for gifts of Chilhuly vases etc, some of which she had to return I think. The pre-Guild threads reported all...and had a ball observing bad taste in what the Clintons stole etc.

I thought you'd saved the old threads. What fun that was! Just the thought of Hillary being showered with those gosh-awful glass pieces of art that more closely resembled bedpans (Chihuly - sp?) was entertaining enough, but when we started tracking the sources and vast quantities of gifts, it was downright staggering.

Well, we've done it now - just booked flights to Paris in May. We'll visit various WWI sites (Chateau Thierry, Belleau Wood, Verdun and environs), at least one champagne cave in Reims and have at least two full days in Paris. When's your next trip?

Dean's testing the waters as a newly-discovered Christian, but Hillary has that Hebrew thang down pat (having known forever about her Jewish step-grandfather). The question is whether she refrained from calling anyone a f*****g Jew bastard:
At Temple Israel of Lawrence, Clinton delivered a Hanukkah address toward the end of Max Brook's Bar Mitzvah. She also gave an update on the Middle East situation, based on her visits to Iraq and Afghanistan with U.S. Senator Jack Reed (D-R.I.) over the Thanksgiving weekend. I felt that tension between hoping for the best and preparing for the worst, said Clinton of the reactions she got from people on her recent visit.

Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton presents Max Brooks with a challah bread during his Bar Mitzvah, as Rabbi Jay Rosenbaum of Temple Israel of Lawrence looks on. The senator visited Lawrence on Saturday, Dec. 13. source

How wonderful! Glenn and I have talked about an Italy trip this year...but the Euro's gone up another 15% since we started planning. So it looks like a winter or spring trip is out...we're now aiming for the fall.

Good find about Hillary and the Hebrew thang....I read somewhere that Dean has the Jewish vote locked up...even over Clark and Lieberman. Course when Hillary throws her hat in the ring, that will change.

What could you have possibly done that got you thrown off Lucianne?
