Sam,

Great poem today. The tunes are good, the coffee and donuts are great as usual.

Thanks much.

The Fool

Thespian fool
you... sweet mime
attempting to play comedy
your tears of tragedy in
loving my desire
casting you to act well
to your audience of eyes.
Are you soft with laughter...?

Glad you enjoy the tunes. What'll I do if I run out?

I was going to say "Play it again Sam", but I know that isn't exactly how the line went. LOL.

You could sing for us.

You don't want to hear me sing. ;-)

Then you can just start from the top and play them all again. Nothing wrong with repeating things that are good.

THE WATCH

I watch here, in the night and cold, and dark is what I see,
A quiet watch awaits me on the ramparts of the free,
The Movies and the Internet I watch distractedly,
for neither one can reach the unnamed hurt that's wracking me.

I steal outside to clear my head, my heart and soul and mind,
I see a winter sunset, unforgiving and unkind,
A frozen pond, an icy moon, and wood smoke on the wind,
and back inside to watch I go, deaf and willing blind.

There's silence in the corridors, and chaos in my heart,
The strife within so threatens me, to tear these things apart,
I seek the solace and relief, of words of craft and art,
but the dread approaches, hurting more with every shot and dart.

My fellow watchers with me do not know my building pain,
Silent in my anguish, but for the screaming in my brain,
Knuckles white upon my chair, cursing, being drained,
Oh, where does this pain come from, that I fight against in vain?

THE CACHE

It's in the cache of pain we carry
from the day that I did marry
ere before that day it came

swelling in the veins and brain
tearing up a tiny heart
bruised and bloody from the start
a broken tiny little heart

Humans are born in pain
and some of it remains the same
for some of us all the days
it's hiding in the silent coves
and walks on shadowy high walls
where the Watch goes on
through darkest nights
and scares us to our very souls
in flight

things that scurry in the night
and crash and bang in our head
and wish to God I was dead.

Nay I lay and watch at night
the streets lights both dim and bright
and fireflies on the winds
and listen for the whirl of him
my lovely handsome Dragon Fly
on his back I do climb
with his mighty wings we scale
fantastic heights we do prevail
and love the wind in our hair
dipping gilding everywhere
just we two alone in flight
on moonlit star filled dreamy nights
With him there is no pain you see
I love him and he loves me.

Escape and flight are yours, not mine,
I must stride through the mire
foot soldier against the nameless pain.

Burdens are lightened by wisdom
but where is my intellect against
this?

I don't know from whence it came
the fear and pain without a name
it rides along on sunny days
and wind swept alleyways
lurkers around corners
in twilights hours
and screams it's name
in our dreams
stretches out along the seams
of skin holding us together
and still we grab at sanity
and run swinging our huge
guns of fun and face it down
in the mirror and hold it near
that we may know happiness
when it does show

So you say I escape that's
allright to be a free spirit on the sea
and let the others be themselves
to each his own and truth will win
head down and punt it's the way
to keep on keeping on...
and it's okay
to be me today.

Mirror? The mirror was not my friend for years,
as I, unshaven and unkempt as my soul,
could not bear the sight of that which stared
back out at me.

Not the face that all have come to know,
but a dessicated leer, a corpse of the past,
a ghoul fashioned of broken dreams.

But...

I fear it rises once more.

It's not the mirror it's self to fear,
but what, of course, is reflected there.
The answer comes from deep within
it was born with you
your life a map
you take some roads
some alleyways to nap
but what is inside of you
needs to be let free
never to rise again
to haunt your dream..

we are separated by only time and space
and i miss you terribly
