While I agree. I think both characters would still be at least be a little older in appearance than they are in movies. Aragorn had traveled most of Middle Earth by the time Fellowship begins. He at least should look somewhat more rugged and care-worn than he does.

Huh.... I think he looks pretty much the 'age' I pictured him.... a man in his prime, but that has been sleepin' outside awhile.

I think if there is a criticism of the hobbits 'as cast'.... it would be that they are not at all fat.... Even all the weight Sean Astin put on didn't meet the description of round.

Well, I did some figuring. Aragorn lives to be 210, and is 87 at the time of the War of the Ring, so he is about 41.5% through his lifespan. If the life expectancy of a non-Numenorian is 91 years (using Eomer's lifespan as the baseline), that makes Aragorn the equivalent of a 38 year-old. And Viggo is 45, so I think he is a pretty good fit age-wise.
