Heavenly Father, we return to give You thanks that You have given us a community of believers who share our joys and our sorrows ... who will help us bear our burdens and who will pray one for another. We lift up trussell and her little ones and ask Your richest blessings upon them ... bring to this Mom the perfect employment ... one that provides for her family but is also rich in enjoyment and opportunity. Surround her with encouragement and fellowship ... lead them into this joyous holiday knowing that You will provide their every need. We praise You and thank You in the Name of Jesus, Amen ...
Fellow colo freeper bump.
My daughter-in-law is the president of the PTC at her children's school and was at the school today when a bus driver came in to tell a story.
A brother and sister on her bus were arguing all the way to school this morning and she couldn't help but hear what was going on. The sister, a first grader, had brought the family electric bill to school to see if she could find someone to pay it and her brother was arguing with her about it. When the staff and the PTC parents who were there heard the story they decided to do something. My DIL went to their house to offer help. She didn't tell them about how or why she knew something but just talked a while and got their story.
They moved here with Duke energy and the husband had an excellent job with the promise of a future and then all of a sudden around Easter, Duke pulled out, the husband lost his job and they couldn't sell their house. The husband got work as a mechanic but then had an accident and burned his face and hands and they haven't healed enough yet for him to work again and of course, they didn't have any insurance. He should be eligible for unemployment but so far hasn't been able to get it. In the meantime their utilities will be cut off if they don't pay by the 20th. The funny thing is the wife kept looking for the electric bill and thought she had misplaced it :-}
Anyhow, enough sadness, it's time for the good part. The PTC is going to pay their electric bill and parents and staff all pitched in money for presents and the PTC is going to match what they raised to buy presents for the family. The PTC had a Christmas store where the children in the school can buy inexpensive gifts for family and friends and they allowed the 2 children to shop for their family for free. They also sent them home with a Christmas tree and all the decorations.
I love this because it shows just how good people are and (forgive my cynicism) this family isn't a "professionally" poor family. They didn't ask for help but because of the love and trust their daughter felt in her school environment they are receiving a great gift.
Forgive me for missing your post before today - I've had a cold and haven't been online every day.
