Okay, so what's my likely problem if I have static in one speaker while playing a DVD? I don't seem to have it on other applications.

On a computer, right? Does it sound like static really, or more like a speaker being pushed to the distortion point? Could be that there's a blown or almost blown speaker and regular apps don't generate the right freqs in high enough volume to make it show up.

Or maybe try jiggling the cords.

Tried jiggling the cords. What do I do if the speaker is blown? And how would I know?
