ecurbh is playin' Maynard Ferguson... WOOHOOO!!!! MAYNARD RULES!!!!!
Hey Ecurbh... got Birdland??? That's absotively my fave. That, and I'm thinkin' that Conquistador was just the best of the best of Maynard.
Did I ever tell you that he played at my high school?
I wasn't so lucky, but my best friend, Eric, got to PLAY with Maynard (he was a trumpet player, go figure) when Maynard played at good ol' Tumwater High. He was our soloist for all the Maynard stuff in Jazz band 'cuz he was the only one that could really hold a triple-high-C and could circular breathe.
He held his own on stage... talk about a dream come true...

I was just telling him that Maynard reminded me of Eric... but I had forgotten about getting to be on stage.

Don't have Birdland on my computer right now, but I may have it on CD somewhere. (Many of my CDs are still in storage in AZ.)
Was just listening to Gospel John, Chameleon, and La Fiesta... great stuff?
Ever heard Chase? 70's funk-fusion jazz with a wicked trumpet section.. I think the main guy in the band, Bill Chase, used to play with Maynard. Have to play it for you sometime.
