This weekend, the Mrs. actually indicated that she would've like to come. (NOW she tells me...). But Monday is exam review and she won't do that to her students.
She did ask what she could send. Perhaps something dessert-ish that will travel well. So, we'll come with something.
I figger Friday afternoon whilst we're waitin' for the others to arrive, g'nad and I could make a beverage run.
I hate that Jr. and I are leavin' so soon on Sunday. But it is the path we have chosen...

Maybe these debates about ideal have always happened. And yes, the condition they show Labs is not just "substantial", they are shown FAT.

MISSING OUR DOGS
Old Men miss many dogs.
They only live a dozen years,if that,
And by the time you are sixty, there are several
The names of which evoke remembering smiles.
You see them in your mind, heads cocked and seated.
You see them by your bed, or in the rain,
Or sleeping by the fire by nights
And always dying.
They are remembered like departed children
Though they gave vastly more than ever they took,
And finally you're seeing dogs that look like them.
They pass you in the street but never turn
Although it seems they should, their faces so familiar.
Old men miss many dogs.

Jazz was an exaggeration in a lot of respects! He was enormous.... and was a really good retriever, though I don't know if he ever hunted. Around the house, he was dumber than a box od rocks. A very BIG box of rocks.

Old men miss many dogs. Sigh...your reminiscing reminds me that, as annoying as he is, I'd really miss Sam. (must build fence, must build fence).
Did I tell you that my wife's neice named her new baby Samuel? Our dog has a namesake! (I don't think she wuz thinkin' that...)

I just knew that was coming.... Heh...I told Sam at Richmoot that I'm gonna be vey embarrassed cause I figger y'all will just be waitin' fer me to start the rude noise makin'...

I know someone who named their son Logan.... and I don't think that was intentional either. Logan just doesn't seem like a human name to me. It's a dog name.
What is funny, is that my pony, when my friend got him for her son, had come without a name, because she was unregistered and from auction... She needed a name and Tiff let her son Jesse name her. He said... "I want to name the pony Jessie". Tiff said, "but Jesse, the pony is a girl pony". He said "I know, but you gave me a girl name, mom". HA!
Should ecurbh and I name our labs Merry and Pippin or Smith and Wesson (as I had always imagined my next pair would be)?

Merry and Pippin. Labs are such goofy critters.
Hmmm... what am I forgetting for Entmoot?

We did realize when Luke came along that we had given some of the "better" names to the animals.

I have some in the computer that is not working right now, at home. I have some pics at yorktown, and a couple on Ofoto. I thought I had posted them before. Some of Facha, my lab that died a couple of years ago. (has it been that long, yes.)
I'll see if I can find and post what I have.
